PURPOSE:To provide a useful log-toxic antiulcer agent derived from natural material. CONSTITUTION:The active component of the objective agent is 7-(4''-hydroxy-3''- methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-4-hepten-3-one existing in RYOKYO (Alpinia- officinarum-Rhizoma) which is a galenical drug known as a medicine or spice from old times, having stomachic action and used as a component of ANCHU- SAN (a Chinese powdery drug formulation). The compound can be produced by extracting RYOKYO with an organic solvent such as lower alkyl ketone, lower alcohol, lower fatty acid ester or lower aliphatic ether, concentrating the extract and subjecting the product to column chromatography using silica gel, alumina, etc., as an adsorbent. |
