PURPOSE:To obtain the subject superconductor having high critical current density by carrying out the baking treatment and zone-melting treatment of a powder-formed material containing Y, Ba, Cu and O under specific condition, thereby forming a Y1Ba2Cu3OX phase. CONSTITUTION:Powders containing Y, Ba, Cu and O (e.g. powders of Y2O3, BaO and CuO) are compounded and formed. The formed material is baked at 900-970 deg.C) to form Y1Ba2Cu3OX phase. The baked material is further baked at 1000-1200 deg.C to form a principal phase of Y2Ba1Cu1OY. The baked product is quenched and subjected to zone-melting treatment under a temperature gradient adjusted to a heat-initiation temperature of 1000-1200 deg.C and the heat- termination temperature of 900-970 deg.C. An oxide superconductor having oriented crystal structure and high critical current density can be produced without collapsing the shape of the sintered material. |
