PURPOSE:To elevate the temperature of a heater efficiently and ensure engine start capability, etc., by a method wherein a power is supplied to a driving control system by a first alternator and a first accumulating unit and a power is supplied to a heater by a second alternator and a second accumulating unit. CONSTITUTION:If the temperature of a catalyst is normal and a temperature signal T does not indicate a low temperature state, a current application control signal C from a control circuit 6A shows an opening instruction and a current application switch 5 is opened. On the other hand, if the catalyst temperature is declined and the temperature signal T indicates a low temperature state, the control circuit 6A outputs the current application control signal C to close the current application switch 5 and a power is supplied to a heater 3 from an auxiliary alternator 7 and an auxiliary battery 8. As the power is supplied by the second power supply means 7 and 8 which is independent from a first power supply means 1 and 2, a sufficient power can be supplied to the heater 3 and, further, a high voltage of 24V is applied to the heater 3, so that the heater temperature can be elevated in a short time. |
