PRODUCE FOR PREPARATION OF COPOLYESTER

The copolyester is prepared by (1) esterifying or ester- exchange reacting bifunctional carboxylic acid or its ester- forming derivatives with glycol, hydroxy dicarboxylic acid or its ester-forming derivatives. The hydroxy dimethyl terephthalate (I) or hydroxy dimethyl terephthalic acid (II) is added during the esterification or ester-exchange reaction and its amount is 3-9 mole % against dicarboxilic acid or its ester-forming derivatives, and also (I) or (II) is reacted with C2-12 aliphatic or aromatic glycol. The copolyester has an exellent dyeability with a disperse dye or basic dye and an intrinsic viscosity of above 0.5 dl/g.
