The invention relates to an inclination mechanism for a pivoting head with saddle which can be used in a machine tool of the type having a double housing. The pivoting head with a saddle (13) carries, on its sides in the direction of the inclination, hydraulic thrust cylinders (18R, 18L) to which a hydraulic pipeline system (19) is connected in order to supply presses for balancing the pivoting and presses for reaction when the pivoting head (13) is inclined at a predetermined angle by a mechanism for maintaining the inclination. The pivoting head with a saddle (13) is inclined whilst providing presses for balancing out the pivoting of the hydraulic thrust cylinders (18R, 18L) and, after inclined the head to a predetermined angle, the reaction pressures are applied to the hydraulic thrust cylinders (18R, 18L) to compensate for an inclination torque of the pivoting head with saddle (13). <IMAGE>
