Residues obtd. by combustion of pelletised material in chambers, as defined in DE4137284 undergo solid-liquid extn. with polyfunctional amines followed by electrolysis of the extract. The polyfunctional amines are aliphatic and have at least 2 amino-gps. per molecule, the claimed extractant being dipropylene triamine and/or its homologs. Anodes used in the electrolysis contain Cu cpds., the claimed anodes contg. CuS. ADVANTAGE - Cu is recovered directly from CuS without the use of pyrometallurgical methods thereby avoiding high energy requirements and prodn. of SO2
