The device has at least one support pipe (1) flowed through by coolant, on which at least one rider (3) is located. The latter consists of a housing (4) made of heat-resistant cast iron with at least one recess (9), into which a support piece (10) made of ceramic material is inserted. The support piece has adequate compression strength even at temperatures above 1200 DEG C. The housing remains at a temperature below 1200 DEG C and can in this region support and hold together the support piece very well and moreover conduct the stresses arising into the support pipe.
