The bimetallic-strip thermal switch includes a first metal support bearing a fixed contact and a second metal support which bears a bimetallic contact element (6, 7) heated by the passage of current. The supports are joined to one another by means of electrically insulating attachments (4, 5), and delimit a space intended for the contacts. A thick-film resistance heating element (15) fixed on to the second support is in thermal contact with the latter and includes at least one heating resistor connected in series with the bimetallic-strip element. This switch, on the one hand, tolerates heat extremely well and, on the other hand, possesses a fast reaction speed. <IMAGE>
