The reinforcement (1) for a joint seal (10) consists of a succession of flat rectangular elements (2) that are parallel to each other and joined laterally by at least one bridging element to form a continuous longitudinal band. These bridging elements (3a,3b) are made up of two distinct series. The bridging elements of each of these series is alternately disposed on one side or the other of the longitudinal axis (X) of the band, with the bridging element (3a) of the first series being situated on the lateral edges of the rectangular elements (2) and the bridging elements of the second series being situated near to the longitudinal axis (X). Use/Advantage - As a reinforcement matrix moulded into the body of sealing joints used in motor vehicles that is sufficiently flexible to be easily bent in its two planes.
