摘要 A total energy heat exchanger prevents the transmission of smells. The heat exchanger incorporates an absorbent whose equilibrium isotherm shows no sudden increase above a relative humidity of 40 per cent; that the absorption and desorbtion equilibrium isotherm show no signs of hysteresis and that absorbed moisture causes no capillary condensation; further that the heat exchanger material is fabricated by the application of a glue or binding agent to the surface of metal foil, sheet metal or ceramic fibre paper, and macroparticles are applied to the absorbent; that the heat exchanger is corrugated and laminated to form the heat exchanger. Absorbents used include A-type and RD-type silica gel regulators or hydrophilic zeolite. The unit is a honeycomb structure. Between 5 and 30 g macro absorbent particles are applied per square metre. Follwing application of glue and absorbent to the surface, the material is immediately heated to between 100 and 250 degrees C, to rapidly evaporate transient components, produce many very small linked pores and harden the surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - The total energy heat exchanger largely prevents the transmission of odours.
