A casting tube for use on a pressure casting machine comprises a refractory casting tube (C), having sufficient length so that the upper end may be fixed vertically below an opening in the lower wall of the mould and the lower end extends through a cover of a closed vessel arranged under the mould and that is immersed in the melt in a ladle. The casting tube incorporates at least two tube sections connected in series in a sealed manner. The two sections of tube (11,16) are connected by a threaded joint (c), with some conical surfaces provided with threads (15,20) that have an angle of inclination (theta) in a range between 2 and 15 degrees with respect to the axis of the casting tube and a pitch in a range of between 10 and 85 mm. The two tube sections have respectively male and female threading. USE/ADVANTAGE - The casting tube is used to transfer molten metal from a casting ladle to a pressure casting machine. The casting tube has improved resistance at the junction between its upper and lower parts thus providing a more stable casting operation over a longer period with consequential advantages in operating terms.
