The acoustic `scarecrow' uses a sound generator based upon a microcomputer (10) to which is coupled a number of EPROM memories (11-14), each containing the digitised form of a specific animal or human sound. The outputs of the memory are converted into analogue form (15) and are played back through a loudspeaker. The unit is housed in a box that can be mounted on a pillar. Power to operate the system is provided by solar cells (18) coupled to a battery charging circuit (19). ADVANTAGE - Simplifies generation of suitable sounds.
