PURPOSE: To discharge chips smoothly from a tool system without obstructing the operation by disposing a pair of recesses on both sides of a recessed part group of the central area. CONSTITUTION: A chip forming means 19 is disposed in the central area of the top 16 and disposed isolated to inside from the main cutting edge 18, and has one group of first recessed parts 28 disposed in the central area extending in the direction parallel to the direction of advancing from the front end face of the insert 10 to the rear end face and a relatively short second recessed part 30 disposed on both sides of the first recessed part 28 group disposed in the central area. The first and second recessed parts 28, 30 are separated from each other, and a flat land 27 is provided between the main cutting edge 18 and two kinds of recessed parts 28, 30. Accordingly, chips can be discharged from the tool system without obstructing the operation. |
