[Also in Division A3] A garter for a stocking comprises an elastic tape 1 of greater length than the upper edge of the stocking 14, Fig. 5, and fixed thereto by, e.g. threads 4. The inner face of the tape is provided with anti-slipping means such as bare rubber threads 3, Fig. 2, while the outer face is provided with a plurality of retention means such as pockets 2, Fig. 1 for engagement by an attachment 7 to adjust the effective gripping length of the tape. Instead of the pockets 2, which may be woven with the tape, weft or warp loops may be provided for cooperation with suitable fastening elements. Alternatively, button holes and buttons can be used.</p> |
