A method and a system for providing a video box service between heterogeneous networks are provided to enable session settings for providing the video box service between a mobile communication network and an SIP network, thereby enabling the video box service between the heterogeneous networks. A method for providing a video box service comprises the following steps of: determining whether a called terminal(180) joins the video box service when the called terminal is out of service; connecting a video box service server(170) with a call when the called terminal joins the video box service, converting a response for a call connection received from the video box service server into an SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) message, and transmitting the SIP message to the calling terminal; and transmitting a video message of a calling terminal to the video box service server when a check message for the call connection with the video box service server is received from the calling terminal.
