PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of edging a metal slab by which the amount of edging of the metal slab is made larger than that of conventional methods without using special equipment and also the generation of a projecting part is suppressed. SOLUTION: This method is a method by which both end parts in the conveying direction of the metal slab 10 are pressed with a pair of dies 13, 14 which are oppositely arranged on both sides in the width direction of the metal slab 10 and have a pressing part parallel to both the side faces and an oblique side part continuing to the pressing part before performing edging over in the conveying direction with edging rolls 11, 12 which are oppositely arranged on both sides in the width direction while conveying the metal slab 10 with a plurality of conveying rolls. After forming the oblique side part for reducing the width from the base side to the front side and the rear side of the metal slab 10 and a preliminary parallel part which continues to the oblique side part and is longer than the length of it by pressing both end parts in the conveying direction of the metal slab 10 with the dies 13, 14, the portion excepting at least a part of the base side is further pressed with the dies 13, 14.
