A backlight assembly is provided to install a light diffusing plate, on which a protrusion pattern is formed, in the rear of the backlight assembly, thereby improving the luminance uniformity of light generated from a light source. A backlight assembly includes a light source(300), a light diffusing plate(400), and a light reflecting sheet(200). The light diffusing plate has an incident surface on which light generated from the light source is incident. A protrusion pattern(420) is formed in a part of the whole of the incident surface.
