<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce temperature rise in a cover covering a machine main body, to protect a spindle motor from a cutting fluid, and to improve the cooling effect of the spindle motor. <P>SOLUTION: A main body of a machine tool is covered with a cover 1. An opening portion 15 is provided on a cover ceiling portion 1a at an upper part of a spindle motor Ms. The cover 1 is provided with hanging portions 1c that hang down from the opening portion 15 with a predetermined clearance from side surfaces of the spindle motor except for the rear surface. Air that is mixed with a misty cutting fluid in a space inside the cover is sucked through a suction pipe 7 by a mist collector. The outside air flows into the space inside the cover through the clearance 13. The outside air that passes through the clearance 13 flows into vents 14 by a built-in fan 8 of the spindle motor Ms, thereby cooling the spindle motor Ms, and being discharged to the outside. The temperature in the space inside the cover can never be increased by heating of the spindle motor Ms. The outside air which does not include mist of the cutting fluid passes through the vent 14, so that the spindle motor is protected from the cutting fluid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
