<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag for a front passenger seat capable of smoothly protecting an occupant by suppressing any excessive projection to the occupant side in the initial inflation. <P>SOLUTION: In the airbag 15 for the front passenger seat, a recess is arranged in an occupant protective part 23 of a bag body 16 substantially along the vertical direction. A tether 37 connects an inner top part 23c of the occupant protective part 23 constituting a projecting end side of the recess 24 when completing the inflation of the bag body 16 to a part in a vicinity of a gas flow inlet 19. The tether 37 is divided into two portions of a front portion 38 and a rear portion 42, and the rear portion 42 couples a rear end 42b side wider than a front end 42a side with the inner top part 23c over the entire vertical area. The front portion 38 is symmetric across the gas flow inlet 19. The front end 38a side is coupled with a circumferential edge part of the gas flow inlet 19 in the right and left areas to enable the rear portion 42 to be pulled in a substantially uniform manner over the entire vertical area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
