PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser amplification apparatus that can reduce a filament phenomenon and can obtain high-power pseudo diffraction limit light by a simple structure. SOLUTION: The laser amplification apparatus has a tapered laser amplifier with a taper-shaped gain region spreading in a horizontal direction and a light coupling means at which end part a lens is formed arranged so as to face an incident end of the gain region of the tapered laser amplifier, which has a polarization plane preservation optical fiber for preserving a horizontal polarization plane at this end part, wherein the light coupling means has the polarization plane preservation optical fiber arranged such that the light radiated from the lens enters the incident end of the gain region so as to be included in a horizontal direction, this incoming light is propagated to the gain region at a spread angle horizontally wider than that of the tapered shape, and this propagated light horizontally includes the exiting end of the gain region.
