PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data retrieval device adapted to perform AND retrieval when a space is present in the middle of a retrieval character string, which treats the retrieval character string as a character string having no space when a predetermined condition is satisfied so as not to perform AND retreival. SOLUTION: When the retrieval character string contains a space, the number of retrieval object data is acquired to perform AND retrieval as it is. When the number of retrieval object data exceeds a predetermined number, the space is excluded to perform single keyword retrieval. Since the single keyword retrieval is performed in place of the AND retrieval even in a case such that "A/MARTQ" (/ is space) is habitually input, for example, instead of "AMART", retrieval according to a user's demand can be performed.
