PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic transducer capable of stably detecting liquid surface at low cost, by laminating a plurality of thin piezoelectric elements of satisfactory mass productivity, such as article on the market. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic transducer 10 is fixed on the outer wall surface of the bottom of the vessel made to transmit the ultrasonic wave to the liquid surface of the liquid stored in a vessel, also receives the reflected waves, reflected from the liquid surface. The ultrasonic wave transducer 10 is constituted of a plurality of metallic vibration plates 111 to 115 a piezoelectric element part 100, in which a plurality of piezoelectric elements 121 to 125 are laminated alternately, and an acoustic matching layer 14 which acoustically matches any one of the electrical antiresonant frequencies that constitutes the piezoelectric element part 100.
