PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the increase of power consumption and a calorific value in a live view mode. SOLUTION: A camera includes: an imaging device 107 which separates incident subject light into a plurality of color signals and outputs them; an image generation means 114 which generates a color image for display or a monochromatic image for display on the basis of output color signals; a display device 120 which displays one of the generated color image for display and the monochromatic image for display; a detection means 116 which detects that a prescribed condition is satisfied, during display of the color image for display on the display device 120; and a switching means 116 which switches color image display to monochromatic image display on the display device 120 when the prescribed condition is satisfied.
