PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To practically and intuitively inform a driver of a relative distance between a driver's own vehicle and an object. SOLUTION: A periphery monitoring apparatus 14, which detects a distance to an object present in the periphery of the driver's own vehicle and a position of the object, is connected with a control circuit 2 of a driving support device 1. The control circuit 2 controls the output of four loudspeakers 21 arranged in front, rear, right and left the driver through a control amplifier 20. When an ON signal for a blinker switch 25 is inputted, the control circuit 2 operates the periphery monitoring apparatus 14 to detect the distance/position of the object present in the periphery of the driver's own vehicle, and to output a notifying sound by using the four loudspeakers 21, when the object is detected. At this time, the notifying sound is outputted with the quality changed according to the relative distance to the object (for example, a long distance, a middle distance, or a short distance), and a stereophonic sound field is formed according to the distance/position of the object with a surround-sound system.
