PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail belt for an escalator capable of preventing any falling accident by easily visibly displaying the moving direction of the handrail belt in the long service life state on a surface of the handrail belt. SOLUTION: During hot forming in a manufacturing process of the handrail belt 5, direction indication marks 6 having different color from that of the surface of the handrail belt 5 and indicating the moving direction of the handrail belt 5 are integrally vulcanized and jointed to the vulcanized rubber surface of the handrail belt 5 so that the direction indication marks 6 cover the surface.
