PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper device capable of preventing high-current from continuously flowing into a wiper motor, and capable of securing a driver's visibility. SOLUTION: The wiper device reciprocally rotates the output shaft of the wiper motor to reciprocally turn a vehicle wiper coupled with the output shaft, and thus wipes on a window glass. The wiper device is equipped with a controller which presses an obstacle with the vehicle wiper during a wiping motion (S3) based on detection of a restricted state of the vehicle wiper due to the obstacle such as piles of snow satisfying a reverse permission condition on the window glass (S1, S2), and then, reversibly drives the output shaft and the vehicle wiper (S5) by restarting the wiping motion in a direction reverse to a direction of pressing the obstacle with the vehicle wiper.
