<p>A process for bending a band of cutting-tool material into a delicate and sophisticated configuration of small radius or sharp corner. There is provided a pair of gripping members (11, 12) whose foremost ends have forging dies (9, 10) arranged in opposition to one another, which are made of a material harder than a cutting-tool material (5) to be worked. When the cutting-tool member (5) is allowed to pass through between the opposing forging dies (9, 10), the paired gripping members (11, 12) are forced to make closer approach to each other in a fashion that one forging die (9) of any one gripping member (11) is urged against the counterpart (10) of another gripping member (12) while getting pushed ahead of the counterpart (10), exerting high squeezing pressure on the both somewhat bulged flanks of the cutting-tool material (5) between the mating forging dies (9, 10) to bend the cutting-tool material (5).</p> |
