A remote control system and a method thereof are provided to enable a portable device to transmit a response request signal after sufficient standby time elapses by considering time requested for control in a fixed device or to receive a response from the fixed device in a short time. An LF transmitter(11) transmits a wireless signal to a portable device(2). A UHF transceiver(12) transmits/receives the wireless signal for the portable device. A UHF transmitter transmits the wireless signal to the portable device. A transmission and reception conversion switch is used for performing conversion between transmission based on the UHF transmitter and reception based on a UHF receiver. When a signal is detected from an engine switch(15), a microcomputer(10) checks whether it is in a state of permitting engine start. If so, an engine start signal is transmitted to an engine control system from the microcomputer. |
