PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel made smaller and more lightweight and incorporating a shift type shake correction means, and to provide an imaging apparatus having the lens barrel. SOLUTION: The lens barrel includes a shift lens 51, and shift actuators 3, 4, 16, and 17 that drive the shift lens perpendicular to an optical axis. The shift unit has shifted position detecting means 27, 29, 28, and 30 for detecting the moved position of the shift lens, and disposes the shift actuators and the shifted position detecting means so that at least parts of them overlap as viewed from the direction of the optical axis. In addition, movable actuators 59 and 83 and a diaphragm actuator 58 are disposed in an area opposite the disposed area of the shift actuators with the optical axis between them as viewed from the direction of the optical axis. In addition, the movable lens actuator and the diaphragm actuator are disposed so that at least parts of them may be overlapped as viewed from the direction of the optical axis.
