PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device having a further simple configuration and a control method of the recording and reproducing device, applicable to a recording and reproducing device for recording and reproducing audio data in an optical disk, a memory and the like by using an integrated circuit for each recording medium. SOLUTION: When audio data are reproduced from recording media 2 and 3 using integrated circuits 7 and 17, audio data reproduced from one recording medium 2 are extended using a digital signal processor 16 provided in the other integrated circuit 17.
