PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording system which allows a user to easily recognize information on possibility of recording before starting to record. SOLUTION: The recording system has a displaying means for displaying each recording path with a recording path diagram which represents a recording path from a figure 1 of a source recording medium to a figure 2 of a destined recording medium, and each recording path is represented by shapes 31 and 4a depending on preset compression ratios when recording is made based on the preset recording source of the source recording medium.
