PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space-saving, inexpensive, easily handleable heading machine having a quality decision means capable of performing 100% inspection upon heading with high precision, and applicable even to medium/small-sized machines. SOLUTION: In the heading machine 1 provided with: a base 2; a die 21; a ram 3 reciprocating with respect to the base 2; a punch 31; and a crank driving part 4 converting the rotary movement of a crankshaft 43 into the reciprocating motion of the ram 3, the machine comprises: an angle detecting means (rotary encoder 5) detecting the rotary angle of the crankshaft 43; displacement detecting means (a taper member 61 and a distance sensor 62) detecting the relative displacement of the ram 3 to the base 2; and a deciding means 7 successively collecting the detected rotary angle and relative displacement at the same timing, obtaining stroke properties showing a relation between the rotary angle and the relative displacement, comparing the stroke properties with previously set standard properties or initial properties obtained at the initial time of the operation so as to decide whether heading work is good or bad.
