PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a raw material containing ammonium and/or sulfide compounds which reduces the trailing of the exhaust gas vapor emitted from the stack of a cement factory. SOLUTION: In a process of manufacturing cement, a raw material containing ammonium and/or sulfide compounds is introduced into a temperature zone of 800-1,100°C in a kiln-tail section 1a of a dry rotary kiln 1 or a kiln-tail housing 2 or a calcination oven 3 connected to the kiln tail 1a and treated, together with the raw materials for cement in the system, so as to reduce the concentration of ammonia in the flue for the exhaust gas of the kiln to 20 vppm or lower and that of sulfur oxides to 20 vppm or lower.
