<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated diagnostic analyzer and a method for performing a plurality of diagnostic assays simultaneously. <P>SOLUTION: An automated method for performing nucleic acid-based amplification reactions includes the steps of: (a) in a separation station placed in a first position on a processing deck, separating a target nucleic acid from other substances present in a fluid sample; (b) in an amplification station placed in a second position on the processing deck, incubating the target nucleic acid thus separated together with one or more amplification reagents in a reaction receptacle for a period of time and under conditions sufficient to amplify a target sequence contained in the target nucleic acid; and (c) transporting, to the amplification station, the reaction receptacle containing the target nucleic acid thus separated, the step (c) preceding the step (b). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
