PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information transmission system in which information can be more easily acquired. SOLUTION: An information provider transmits broadcast information 1,010 from a broadcast station 1,000 using a radio wave of FM broadcast or the like. A transmission destination of the radio wave is a number of unspecific users 1,300 and contents of the information are all information items relating to the geographic condition of a corresponding town. Each of the information items contains a data class indicating a type of the information. A user 1,300 registers the class of information required for himself/herself in a portable terminal 1,200 that the user carries with him/her, beforehand. When the portable terminal 1,200 receives information, a data class in the received information is collated with registered classes of required information and when matching information occurs, such a program is initiated as to report generation of required information by storing the information in a storage device of the portable terminal 1,200, displaying it on a display screen or sounding an alarm.
