PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate a dropout color of an image acquired by removing the image element of a specific color from the image of a color on a business form. SOLUTION: This character reader 1 is provided with a specific color removed image generation part 7 for generating a dropout image by removing the image element of a specific color from the image of a color including characters on the business form 2; and a color attribute application part 9 for applying a mark showing the dropout color having been the object of removal to the generated dropout image.
