PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacture cost of a camera, an accessory device and a camera system. SOLUTION: When the accessory device 200 is attached to a camera body 100 and a detection switch 104 is turned on, a control circuit 110 outputs a communication standard informing signal. When the camera body 100 receives a communication enable signal from the accessory device 200, the control circuit 110 starts communication with the accessory device 200 through general-purpose connectors 102 and 202 according to a communication standard on the camera body 100 side. Therefore, even when unexpected equipment is connected to the general-purpose connector 102, the detection switch 104 is not turned on, and communication through the general-purpose connector 102 is not started, so that it is unnecessary to worry that the unexpected equipment is connected to the general-purpose connector 102. Thus, an expensive dedicated connector need not be used for communication with opposite side equipment such as the accessory device 200, and the inexpensive general-purpose connectors 102 and 202 can be used, so that cost is drastically reduced.
