It is possible to realize a method for accurately and rapidly detect a particular element in a resin piece by using an X-ray detector having no function for detecting energy. Provided is a method for detecting Br in resin. The method includes: a step of applying to a resin piece, an X-ray having a maximum intensity in an energy range which is easily absorbed by Br and which is not smaller than the absorption end of K-shell and not greater than the characteristic X-ray of the K-shell of Mo, and detecting the X-ray intensity after passing through the resin piece; and a step of detecting the Br contained in the resin according to the detected X-ray intensity.
