DISPERSION STABILIZER FOR SUSPENSION POLYMERIZATION OF VINYL MONOMER AND VINYL POLYMER

Disclosed is a dispersion stabilizer for suspension polymerization of a vinyl monomer, which is composed of a modified polyvinyl alcohol resin containing 0.1-20% by mole of a structural unit which has chlorine in a side chain. (The modified polyvinyl alcohol resin is preferably a saponified vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer having a saponification degree of 30-95% by mole and an average polymerization degree of 200-5000.) Also disclosed is a method for producing a vinyl polymer, wherein a vinyl monomer is suspension-polymerized using such a dispersion stabilizer for suspension polymerization. Further disclosed is a vinyl chloride resin, or vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer or a saponified product thereof which is produced by suspension-polymerizing a vinyl monomer using the dispersion stabilizer for suspension polymerization.
