<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical pickup device for recording information in optical disks of different types by using luminous fluxes of same wavelengths, and to provide an optical disk device. <P>SOLUTION: By using a liquid crystal element LQS, an optical path is switched by changing the polarizing direction of a passing luminous flux, and then the luminous flux is made incident on a first objective lens OBJ1 or a second objective lens OBJ2. Thus, a simple and inexpensive optical pickup device is provided, by integrating a relatively expensive semiconductor laser LD and a photodetector PD even while recording and/or reproducing information in a compatible manner between a BD and an HD. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
