PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element and a display unit assuring high luminance, excellent stability and durability, larger area, and easier manufacture. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element is characterized in that an organic compound layer is formed of one or more layers including a light-emitting layer, at least one layer of the organic compound layers includes at least a kind of charge transfer polyether containing at least a kind selected from the structure expressed by general formulae (II-1) and (II-2), and a buffer layer is provided in contact with at least a layer of the layers including the charge transfer polyether and an anode and includes at least a kind of charge injection material selected from an inorganic oxide, an inorganic nitride, and an inorganic oxynitride.
