PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive rectangular conductor superior in breaking strength. SOLUTION: This rectangular conductor is formed by means that tough pitch soft copper wires formed of tough pitch copper of which spiral elongation is within the range of 50-350 mm are compressed. It is preferable that the compressing is carried out within the range of draft of 60-90%. Then, after the compressing, the compressing may be carried out further at the draft of 40% or less.
