PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a deposit on a long material, which improves cleaning quality by removing a deposit such as surface fouling and fine powder on the long material, and then enhancing the cleanliness and drying degree of the long material. SOLUTION: The method for removing the deposit by drying the surface of the long material after having removed the deposit on the surface of the long material comprises: a cleaning step of removing the deposit on the surface of the long material with a cleaning material; a water droplet removal step of removing water droplets by absorbing them from the surface of the long material which has been cleaned; and a drying step of drying the surface of the moist long material from which the water droplets have been removed.
