PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device allowing realizing of a manual insertion tray means with excellent safety and operability by any user. SOLUTION: In this image forming device, a pickup roller for delivering paper mounted on a bottom plate in a conveying direction is provided with the manual insertion tray means for controlling elevating of the bottom plate in a mode to abut on uppermost paper. The image forming device has a first operation mode for raising the bottom plate when a manual insertion printing request occurs and lowering the bottom plate after finishing a printing operation related to the manual insertion printing request or when a prescribed abnormality occurs, a second operation mode for raising the bottom plate when the manual insertion printing request occurs and lowering the bottom plate after finishing the printing operation or after the lapse of prescribed time, and a third operation mode for raising the bottom plate when the manual insertion printing request occurs and lowering the bottom plate when the prescribed abnormality occurs. Any one of the first operation mode, the second operation mode or the third operation mode can be selected by the user.
