PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorption body capable of being applied as a crush box capable of sufficiently reducing initial impact when a vehicle front surface-collides and sufficiently relaxing impact which the vehicle receives by the front surface collision. SOLUTION: When compression load of a predetermined value or more is applied to an axial direction of a crush box 1 by front surface collision of the vehicle, a specific portion S with low buckling strength of a cylindrical body 1C is firstly started to be buckled to absorb a part of collision energy, and subsequently, the other portion with high buckling strength other than the specific portion S of the cylindrical body 1C is started to be buckled to absorb the collision energy. As a result, initial impact when the vehicle front surface-collides can be sufficiently reduced.
