The map has a set of markings for representing a set of roads (3). An inserting section is passed in a defined time period. The markings are projected in the form of an overlay over the maps. The projection is steplessly cross-fadable. The travel time is represented with closer time scale during zooming in than in a remote area during zooming out. The travel time is determined from the statistic values of speeds of a set of vehicles on the individual roadway sections determined in actual or comparable time periods.
