A drawing method for producing a patterned medium on which a dot pattern for achieving high record density and high S/N ratio of reproduction signal is formed. The drawing method comprises a step for fixing a base board onto a turntable, and a step for forming spot exposure regions periodically along each target line by forming the spots of a focusing energy beam periodically along each of a plurality of drawing target lines provided in the peripheral direction of the central axis of the turntable while rotary driving the turntable about the central axis. At every predetermined number of more than one target lines out of the plurality of target lines, spot exposure regions adjoining in a predetermined direction traversing the target lines overlap to form a composite exposure region.
