PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a glass substrate for a magnetic disk including an evaluation step by a means capable of simply evaluating an organic contamination on the glass substrate. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the glass substrate for a magnetic disk including a mirror surface polishing treatment step of the glass substrate and a washing treatment step has the evaluation step of evaluating an amount of the organic contamination on a principal surface of the glass substrate after at least the washing step.
