PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pants type disposable diaper, wherein fitness to the hip part is improved. SOLUTION: The pants type disposable diaper is constituted so that a curved elastic expansion and contraction member disposed on the back section has: a raised part forming pattern which forms roughly a chevron shape to the crotch side at the width direction center part and forms a raised part extending in the anteroposterior direction on the skin abutting surface side at the width direction center of the back section; and a follow-up ability assisting pattern which passes through the vertex of the raised part forming pattern roughly in the chevron shape or the vicinity on the crotch side with a position closer to the waist opening side than the vertex as a proximal end, energizes the raised part to the skin side while maintaining it and assists the follow-up ability to the shape of a skin surface.
