PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can save the trouble to retrieve an information code and surely and speedily perform the information code retrieval. SOLUTION: When a QR mode is effective, an image of a fist page of a document is scanned and stored, and then a message prompting positions of a display image and a QR code to be specified is displayed (steps 103, 104). When a retrieval position for a QR code is specified, a CPU 1 retrieves a QR code within a specific range based upon the position that the user specifies and when a QR code is detected, extraction and decoding processing on the QR code is performed and then necessary processing is performed based upon restoration information on the QR code (steps 105 to 112). After the processing, it is decided whether there is a next document, and when there is a next document, a return to the step 103 is made to display an image of the next document.
